We at Mackie's at Taypack - makers of Mackie's Crisps - are very proud to be part of Tesco's Eat Happy Project, a long-term commitment to help children have a better relationship with food.
Our contribution the project involves participation in a 'Farm to Fork' initiative, which aims to get children interested in where their food comes from. We have agreed to visit schools in our local area to demonstrate our process of making crisps 'from plough to pack'. We begin by looking at where and how our crisping potatoes are grown. Then we explore the full process of making Our Crisps
, from selection and preparation of potatoes, to cooking and flavouring the crisps, and finally packing them and delivering to stores. Pupils will, of course, get the chance to try the finished product at the end of the session!
